Events accessibility

Inclusive events, designed for everyone

We want anyone to be able to come to our events, so we try to remove barriers when designing or planning out get-togethers.

Here, we will tell you what you will find at all our events as standard. We know that we can’t predict everyone’s needs, so we have also included some examples of other provisions we can offer if required. If anything you might require isn’t mentioned, you can email eve@wewillthrive.co.uk and we’ll do our best to ensure you’re accommodated.

Access provisions that are standard for all events

Step-free venues

We will always book wheelchair accessible/step free venues for our events and communicate venue-specific access information ahead of time.

Information ahead of time

We will communicate what to expect at events ahead of time, including timings.

Clear & Slow Speech

Any speakers will be briefed to talk slowly and clearly.

Event breaks

We will include in all event-related communications that attendees are welcome to step out of the room or take breaks as needed throughout the event. This will be said out loud in the venue as well.

Speaker self-descriptions

Speakers will describe themselves.

Captioned video events

Zoom/video events will be captioned.

Non-dairy options

We will provide no-dairy alternatives for tea and coffee.

Assistance dogs welcome

Access provisions that can be offered if required

After you sign up for one of our events, we’ll e-mail you a survey to help us find out about your needs and preferences in a range of areas. We’ll include a list of access provisions that can be offered if required. These include:

Larger font sizes for emails or documents
High contrast colours in documents
No use of red or green colours
Captions or subtitles
Range of different food options including vegetarian, vegan, nut-free options
Sign language interpretation
Good lighting to assist with lipreading
No background noise/music
An agenda before the event with the timeline clearly outlined so you can know what to expect

Do you need more information?

If you don’t feel comfortable responding via an event survey, you can email eve@wewillthrive.co.uk or call the office and ask to speak with Eve on 02890436480 and mention that it’s regarding the event you’re attending.

You’re also always welcome to email or call if you have any questions about the event, or anything else thrive is working on.

We’re always trying to improve our access provisions, so if you’ve noticed something we’ve missed, we’d really like to hear from you about it. You can send Eve an email:
