How to Own the Room with Viv Groskop
What’s the event?
Writer, comedian, broadcaster and performance coach Viv Groskop will deliver an exclusive event about public speaking, confidence and ambition.
She is the author of bestselling books: How to Own the Room: Women and the Art of Brilliant Speaking (Penguin) and Lift As You Climb: Women and the Art of Ambition (Penguin). Her award-nominated podcast How to Own the Room is the biggest public speaking podcast in the world.
The event format is subject to change, but likely to be as follows: Talk from Viv - 45 minutes; 20 minutes for questions; followed by time for networking and book-signing. Husk Cafe will be open serving hot drinks, scones and soup!

How much is it?
We don’t want finance to be a barrier to joining so this event is free to attend.
If you are able to make a contribution to The Crescent (or work for an organisation that can contribute), they are using a Pay What You Decide model at checkout.
Is the venue accessible?
- All areas of The Crescent are fully accessible by ramps and a passenger lift allowing ease of movement to enable you to explore and enjoy our building
- Our doors are all extra wide to allow easier access for power chairs, wheelchairs, walking aids, buggies and prams.
- We have fully automated doors in the majority of our building, facilitating easier access to our workshops, studios and accessible toilets.
- Our Changing Places Facility is located on the ground floor. This is a new combined toilet, shower and changing room has been specially designed for use by people with disabilities or complex care needs, and was funded by the Department of Communities Access and Inclusion Fund.
- There are also accessible toilets located on every floor of the building.
- Our team has been trained to operate ‘Evacusafe’ chairs if required in an emergency.
- Induction loop systems are in position at reception and in The Cube Theatre space. The Crescent also has two portable loop systems. If required please ask at reception
- Tactile signage is used on key areas within The Crescent. All signage has been designed to facilitate ease of reading for those with visual impairments
- With advanced notice we may be able to provide a range of interpretation services for our live events and learning programme including British Sign Language, captioning and audio description
- Assistance dogs are welcome. Customers are asked to inform the Box Office when booking seats so that appropriate seats are allocated
- We have baby changing facilities, located in both our male and female toilets, offering a baby changing station, baby mat, free nappies and wipes.
- We offer free sanitary products in all our toilet facilities.
- Emergency Call Buttons are located throughout the building at safe refuge points, and can be used to request assistance from a member of staff in an emergency
- The Crescent is a JAM friendly organisation.
