Join thrive’s Board
We’re looking for new Board members to help us deliver our purpose of better telling the story of cultural engagement in Northern Ireland.
Based at the Crescent Arts Centre in Belfast, thrive supports the arts and heritage sector through research, evaluation and marketing. Our free resources and tailored support give organisations the tools to understand their audiences and help their organisation thrive.
Who we’re looking for
Before recruiting new Board members, we complete a skills audit to understand where our gaps are and reflect on the current context for thrive.
For this round of recruitment, we’re particularly looking for people with skills and experience in:
- Financial understanding and experience: Financial procedures, charity accounting, audit processes, internal controls and VAT.
- Policy expertise and knowledge: Experience of policy making in the arts or heritage sector in Northern Ireland, or direct relationships with those setting policy.
- Data security expertise: Cybersecurity, data protection, or experience of overseeing or advising on AI adoption and its risks within an organisation.
These are the priorities for this recruitment, but if you’re interested and don’t have experience in these areas, we’d still like to hear from you.
The role and commitment
Our Board is responsible for making sure that thrive delivers on its charitable aims and that they are pursued ethically, creatively and effectively.
Board members prepare for and contribute to meetings, share responsibility for decisions, challenge and support the CEO, and use their connections, experience and networks to further company development.
The Board meets approximately seven times per year, currently on Thursdays from 8.30am to 10.30am at the Crescent Arts Centre in Belfast.
All Board members are expected to sit on one of our three subcommittees: Finance, People & Policies, or Governance. These meet up to six times per year, usually online. There may also be opportunities to contribute to working groups looking at specific areas of work.
Further details about the role and commitment are included in the Information Pack.
