Bottomless Brunchmarking: Inclusive Audiences (Derry)
What’s the event?
Come join us at Millennium Forum for a Bottomless Brunchmarking session focused on creating inclusive arts and culture spaces for diverse audiences. Based on the success of our recent Inclusive Audiences coffee morning in Belfast, we've decided to bring the conversation to the North West.
Our IMPACT research shows that attending arts and culture is a priority for disabled audiences, but also tells us that the cost-of-living crisis affects them more acutely than the NI average. LGBTQ+ audiences are similarly affected by the cost of living, and are twice as likely to be disabled than other IMPACT respondents. They have a lot of love to give their arts and culture spaces - LGBTQ+ audiences are 13% more likely to be motivated to attend because they want to support a specific venue.
How can we ensure disabled and LGBTQ+ audience members are welcomed into our arts and culture spaces? There's no one-size fits all approach to being inclusive - at thrive we're constantly learning, and we know this is just the start of this important conversation. We're excited to hear from some of the amazing organisations who are already doing amazing work on this, and from others who are just starting to work it out. We'll chat it all through and share learnings and ideas, all while enjoying some delicious brunch.
Event Outline:
9:30am: Arrive, chat and enjoy some tea/coffee and treats.
10am: We'll start the conversation about inclusive audiences.
The conversation will run until about 11:30, there will be some more time at the end for chats and treats, but no pressure to hang around if you need to leave.

Entry: The Millennium Forum is situated in the heart of the City Centre, nestled between the Foyleside and Richmond Shopping Centres.
On approach to the Millennium Forum the surrounding streets are steep. Way-finding signage to the Millennium Forum is present throughout the Foyleside Shopping Centre. There is a ramped entrance from the footway adjacent to the main stepped approach. The ramp has a slight gradient and handrail fitted to one side. Signage is clearly displayed above the main entrance which is fitted with double glass automatic doors. There is also access to the building from the side door on the Derry Walls, there is also a call system, should you wish to gain access when the door is locked. There is a ramp to access the Derry Walls at the back of the Millennium Forum.
Parking: The Millennium Forum does not offer car parking onsite or dedicated disabled car parking spaces. Carparking is provided 24 hours a day in Foyleside East Car Park (accessed by the entrance along the dual carriageway). The NI Roads Service has created two new disabled parking spaces for Blue Badge Holders to service this area of the town centre. These can be accessed on Linenhall Street, at the back of Primark. Please note that the Millennium Forum does not have exclusive use of these spaces.
Inside the Venue: There is good access throughout the building. Seating is provided in the foyer area and the Box Office has a low-level section. Circulation space is good and way-finding signage within the venue is tactile and in Braille. The coffee morning takes place in the Speakeasy Bar located on Level 1 of the Forum. It is accessible via lift from the main entrance and there is an accessible toilet on this level.
