IMPACT Survey FAQs

Want to know more about the details of the IMPACT project? Read on below!

What do I get from participating in this project?

  • A unique reporting link, so you can see your audience data in real-time.
  • A reporting link to the total data (if you want to compare yours with the total)
  • The survey will include open-ended questions, which means you’ll be able to quickly get audience quotes to use for your funding applications
  • You’ll be contributing to a wider understanding of people in NI, which will help you and your neighbours recognise their audiences.
  • We’ll always be on the line if you need a free Audience Appointment to discuss your data further.

Who does the survey go to?

The survey goes out to recent arts and culture attenders. Who are they? This includes people who have attended your recent events, such as music gigs, theatre, film, comedy, talks, you name it. We’re not limiting you to events either, it also includes people who have walked through your doors to see an art exhibition.

Who are we not including in this survey? People who have participated in an activity, such as classes or workshops. Our IMPACT survey is about getting insights into the impact of cultural attendance, not about participation.

When do I send it out?

We recommend sending out the survey as soon as possible after a visit (e.g., within the last few weeks of attending) so that the experience is fresh in their mind and thus more accurate.

In what ways can I send it out?

  • Post-event or post-visit emails with a direct link
  • Signs with QR codes within your venue
  • On portable devices/iPads within your organisation
  • Paper surveys

We have a full survey guide coming soon, so keep an eye out.

How do I get involved?

You can sign up through this link here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/IMPACTthrive

What do I need to do?

We’ll be asking people to use a unique link with which they can collect responses from audiences. All you have to do is direct people towards the survey so they can fill it out. After you sign up, we’ll meet with you to discuss the easiest ways you can send the survey out.

Do I have to get a certain number of responses?

We recommend that each organisation collect 100 responses for the run of the survey. If you don’t feel that’s realistic but still want to participate, that’s fine too, every little bit helps. Even smaller collections of data help add up to a big one, and your responses are just as valuable as anyone else’s. If you sign up, you still get access to the insights and overall data.

Is there an incentive?

Yes: 2x tickets to a lucky winner, randomly chosen every 3 months, at a cultural venue of their choice from a list of local options. We’ll be asking participating cultural venues if they’d like to be featured on this list. And don’t worry, Thrive will organise and fund the giveaway prize so you won’t be out of pocket.

What about privacy and GDPR?

Privacy is important to us – we are conducting research to share insights at a total level for the benefit of the cultural sector, and won’t be sharing any personal information.

If respondents choose to participate in the giveaway drawing, they will be asked to submit contact details to be notified of the prize. This data will be deleted in accordance with our research privacy policy, which you can read here: https://wewillthrive.co.uk/resources/research-privacy-notice

What if I have other questions?

If you already have questions, that means you’re on the right track! We’ll be publishing a survey guide shortly, but contact Eve at eve@wewillthrive.co.uk if you’re curious about anything.

The IMPACT Survey is supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
