Statement from the Arts Collaboration Network - 23 July 2020

The Arts Collaboration Network welcomes the announcement from Communities Minister Carál Ní Chuilín, on the opening of a £4 million funding package designed to help bolster freelancers, artists and performers and prevent the loss of arts organisations.

Covid-19 continues to impact the lives of those who work in the arts and cultural sector and the lives of those who benefit from attending and participating in arts and culture activity across NI.

We also welcome the Minister’s commitment to work collaboratively, through her Department with ACNI and the sector, to discuss and agree the priorities for the £33m funding package announced for arts, culture and heritage. There is much to be done in a short period of time but ongoing joint working is the way to navigate the hard road ahead and ensure all those who live and work in NI - as well as those, in time, who will come to visit - can have the economic and social benefits of a recovered and renewed cultural sector.
