People at a comedy cellar

Our IMPACT survey is a post-visit audience survey that evidences the impact of attending arts and culture on audiences in Northern Ireland. Thanks to IMPACT, we’re able to share for the first time how artform affects audience motivations, behaviours and demographics.

Comedy Audiences

  • Comedy audiences were more likely to be aged 30-49 and had a higher percentage with children in the home
  • These audiences were most likely to cite email/newsletter as their source of information compared to any other artform. This is especially true of large venues with 1000+ seats.
  • This audience is the group most likely to get food/drinks, both at the venue and locally. They are also big spenders, averaging £60 per respondent on non-ticket spend.
  • This group is however the most likely to be affected by the cost of living. They are more likely to be cutting back on ancillary spend and frequency of attending events. This is especially true among people attending larger venues of 1000+ seats.

You can download the IMPACT Comedy Report for the full story.

Interested in other artforms? We have also published reports on Visual Arts, Music and Theatre.
